We make and install cubicle and privacy curtains, patient- and resident-room shades and drapery, and common-area treatments for healthcare and senior-living buildings across Northeast Ohio. Curtains are cut and sewn in our own Akron workroom with mesh tops where sprinkler coverage requires them, the mill’s test report for the exact fabric goes in with the submittal, and installs are phased around occupied rooms.

Healthcare and senior living have been a focus of this workroom for years: hospital systems and retirement communities across Northeast Ohio, in the buildings where privacy, infection control and an occupied-building schedule decide the specification. We do not name individual facilities on a website without their say-so.

Track and carriers
The curtain hangs from carriers running in ceiling track, and the track layout is a design decision rather than a length: where a bay opens, where a bed is accessed from, where a curtain must not foul a boom or a lift. We cut and sew the curtains here, to the track you have or the track we are supplying.
The mesh band at the top
A hospital privacy curtain is normally made with an open mesh band across the top rather than solid cloth to the track, so that a ceiling sprinkler can still reach the space the curtain encloses. The exact requirement comes from the sprinkler design and the authority having jurisdiction on your project — we build to what the specification and the AHJ call for rather than to a rule of thumb, and we ask the question at the survey rather than at the door.
Laundering and the flame-retardant finish
This is the detail that decides a specification. A fabric that is inherently flame resistant carries the property in the fibre and keeps it. A fabric treated with a topical flame-retardant finish can lose it over repeated industrial laundering. For anything that gets washed — and cubicle curtains above all — it matters which one has been specified, and it matters that the laundering instructions reach the people who will actually wash them. We keep the mill's certificate for the goods we supply.

Blackout and room-darkening for sleep
Senior living has a genuinely different brief from acute care. Residents live there, so the rooms should not feel institutional and sleep quality is a real outcome rather than an amenity. Room-darkening or blackout, specified with the mount that actually closes the edges.
Solar shades on the glare side
Day rooms and dining rooms on a south or west elevation take the same low afternoon sun as a house does, and the residents sitting in them cannot move. Openness and colour chosen against the elevation.
Drapery and top treatments
Lobbies, chapels, dining rooms and family rooms, where the point is that the building does not read as a facility. Drapery, valances and cornices, sewn and built here.
Fire rating, submittals, and what we will not claim
Hanging textiles in these occupancies are normally specified to NFPA 701. Method 1 covers lighter single-layer fabrics and multilayer curtain and drapery assemblies fastened together; vinyl-coated blackout linings, lined draperies using one, and plastic films go to Method 2. The AHJ and the project specification govern.
We will not put a blanket fire-rating claim on a website. What we do instead is supply the mill's test report for the exact fabric and colourway with the submittal, so the person approving it is approving a document rather than a sentence. How we handle NFPA 701.
The same discipline applies to infection control and to cleanability: we will tell you what a given fabric's manufacturer states and supply the documentation, and we will not make a sitewide claim about a category of goods.
Working in an occupied building
Nights, weekends and phased install
Most of this work happens in buildings that never close. We phase by wing, floor or shift, agree the sequence before mobilising, and keep dust and access controlled around it.
Credentialing and access
If your facility requires vendor credentialing or badging, raise it on the site-survey form. It is far better handled weeks before mobilisation than at the loading dock on the morning of the install.
