Most companies that quote your windows are ordering from a catalogue and sending a subcontractor to hang it. We are a workroom. Four things happen in this building, and they are the reason the work comes out the way it does.
Fabric on the roll, cut on our tables
We buy fabric by the roll and cut it here, to the opening you actually have. That is what turns a wide span, a patio slider or a hundred-year-old sash that has gone out of square into a shade that fits rather than one that nearly does.
Drapery sewn here
Fullness, lining, header and hem are decisions rather than a size chart, and they are made on the table in this building — for your room, your drop and your light.
Cornices built here
A painted wood cornice with proper returns is millwork: cut, assembled, filled, sanded and painted for one window. Nobody can ship you one, because it does not exist until we make it.
Our own crew on the ladder
The people who install your work are on our payroll. When something needs to be right, there is one company to make it right — not a supplier and a subcontractor pointing at each other.
Over 40 years of Northeast Ohio windows
What that length of time actually buys you is narrower and more useful than it sounds. The openings in this part of the country are mostly not new openings. The buildings have been altered more than once. Knowing what a 1920s plaster reveal does when you mount into it, or how a mid-century slider wants to be covered, is the sort of thing that only comes from having done it a great many times.
It is also why we measure every opening in three places and cut to what is there. Nothing we make is ordered off a guess.
Residential and commercial, from one workroom
Both come out of the same building. Our commercial work runs through healthcare, higher education and senior living across Northeast Ohio — buildings where privacy, infection control and an occupied-building schedule matter as much as the fabric does. After it is installed
A window treatment is a mechanical object in a room people live in. Fabric relaxes in its first season. A bracket occasionally wants moving half an inch once the furniture is in. A motor needs pairing again after a battery change.
Because we made the goods and our own crew hung them, that is one phone call rather than a negotiation between a supplier and an installer. We keep the record of what went into your house — the fabric, the header, the sizes — so a replacement years later matches what is already on the other windows.
How we choose fabric with you
Opacity first, before colour: how much light the room should keep, from a solar screen you can see through to a full blackout. Then how the fabric behaves against that particular window — a west elevation and a north one want different cloth, and the same weave looks like two different fabrics in the two rooms. Colour is the last decision, not the first, and it is made in your light rather than under ours.

Do you actually make the shades and drapery, or do you resell them?
We make them. Fabric comes in on the roll and is cut on our own tables in Akron, drapery is sewn here, and the wood cornices are built here. Our own crew installs. It is the reason we can do a window that is not a standard size, or a dual roller that a catalogue does not offer.
Are you open to the public?
